More Information about Lake Nakuru
Lake Nakuru is one of the Rift Valley soda lakes at an elevation of 1754 m above sea level. It lies to the south of Nakuru, in the rift valley of Kenya and is protected by Lake Nakuru National Park,the lake's abundance of algae attracts the vast quantity of flamingos that famously line the shore. Other birds also flourish in the area, as do warthogs, baboons and other large mammals. Black and white rhinos have also been introduced however it is probably best known for the afore mentioned flamingos that sometimes flock there in their millions creating a constantly shifting sea of pink that is a wonder to behold.
Lake Nakuru National Park rivals Amboseli as Kenya's second-most-visited park and this is one of the best places in Kenya to see leopards, and white rhinos with excellent camping facilities allowing for a relaxed yet exciting holiday. The most popular tourist attraction here is Safari and there are many tours that can be easily arranged to allow you to view this amazing environment in all its natural glory.
