South Luangwa in Zambia is renowned as one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world due in no small part to the fact that the concentration of game around the Luangwa River and its ox bow lagoons is among the most intense in Africa.

Walking safaris were pioneered in the Luangwa Valley and going on one of these trails is considered to be one of the greatest wildlife experiences in Africa and this is the only place where visitors are able to see Thornicroft`s giraffe and Cookson`s wildebeest. This area is home to 14 different antelope species, large herds of elephants, Buffalo and Zebras while thousands of hippos and crocodiles lounge in the pools and river, Also Luangwa is reportedly one of the best places in Africa to see leopard.

The area is also home to a wide variety of bird life with birds of prey such as the Steppe Eagles and Buzzards along with 47 migrating bird species from Europe and Russia. The accommodation here is excellent and Safari excursions can easily be arranged with expert guides to ensure that you experience this beautiful place both safely and to the full.
