Moreton Island is one of the world’s largest Islands and is almost completely National Park making it an excellent destination for nature lovers. It is also famous as one of only a handful of places in the world where you can hand feed dolphins in the wild, at Tangalooma Wild Dolphin Resort.
There are also a wide variety of birdlife and wildflowers during spring in the freshwater Blue Lagoon lake in the northern part of the island that are very popular with tourists wishing to bird watch and bushwalk with several walking tracks well established on the Island.
For the more adventurous visitors there are activities such as sand-tobogganing down the world`s tallest stabilised sand dune – Mt Tempest (here you can take a head-first, high-speed trip down the dune with all the equipment you need supplied on one of the guided tours that are available), and quad-biking tours around the island.
Water activities here include surfing, swimming, and the famous Tangalooma ship wrecks provide some of the best diving and snorkeling to be found in the beautiful and colourful coral reefs on the east coast of Australia.
