The Dawson City Museum was established in the early 1950s and is now home to the most important and varied collection in the Yukon. The collection includes the birth and development of the city and Klondike Region, gold mining, the gold rush, early exploration, First Nations, geology and pre-history.

The museum houses a wealth of varied and interesting exhibits that will give visitors a fascinating insight into how the town of Dawson was transformed during the gold rush from a village of tents, swamps and mosquitos into the thriving Canadian city that it is today. Attractions here include short films, demonstrations, live theatre and tours.
