Canyon City is an historic old Canadian gold rush mining town which was also once the northern port for the river boat arrival of the miners via the chain of lakes starting from Carcross, Yukon.

An 8km tramway used to operate out of this town which transported minerals from the mines to the local town of Whitehorse and the remnants of this and parts of the town are still visible today.

Although the town still draws thousands of history hungry tourists throughout the year the area is today best known for the hiking trail that leads to some truly spectacular views overlooking the Yukon River.
