The Sichuan Opera in Chengdu, China is a type of Chinese opera originating in China`s Sichuan province in around 1700.The performances today are of a more modern style and more relaxed than the Beijing opera with the performance being more like a play.

There are many shows to be seen here including performances of song, dance, musical instruments and acrobatics with one of the highlights of the attraction being the famous act “Changing Faces” where the performer wears many coloured fabric masks which he changes as if by magic. Some performers even change their full costume in an instant and the venue is also home to the Sichuan Puppet Drama which is a kind of stick-supported puppet controlled by strings and one which is often shown at the beginning of the Sichuan Opera.
