Luxury Multi Centre Holidays to Xian, China
Xian is the capital of the Shaanxi province is one of the oldest cities in China with over three thousand years of history and is known as one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China.
The city was formerly known as Cháng’ān when it was a thriving city of courtesans, emperors, poets, monks, merchants and soldiers; a place where many of the world’s great religions co-existed and Chinese culture reached its peak of creativity and sophistication. Xian today sits in the fertile Wei River valley, one of the epicentres of early Chinese civilisation and is a veritable mecca for lovers of Chinese history and culture. Popular tourist attractions include The Xian city walls (the most complete city wall that has survived in China and one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world), The Big Goose Pagoda (an extremely well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists) and The Terracotta Warriors (discovered by local villagers in March 1974 and categorically the biggest tourist attraction in all of China.)
The food and accommodation are excellent in this city and amongst other things shopping is a very popular activity for all tourists that visit here with replicas of the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, paper-cuts and folk paintings being the most popular buys.
