Luxury Multi Centre Holidays to Hiroshima, Japan

Hiroshima, founded on the river delta coastline of the Seto Inland Sea in 1589 by the powerful warlord Mōri Terumoto is best known for being the first city in history to be destroyed by a nuclear weapon when the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) dropped an atomic bomb on it at 8:15 A.M. on August 6, 1945.

Since that terrible event in 1945 the city and its resilient people have recovered and it has been transformed into a thriving and internationally respected community that attracts many thousands of visitors from all over the world. The main airport is located 40 kilometres east of the city and there are regular bus services that run to and from the airport and the main city centre. There is a wide variety of accommodation and local cuisine to be found in and around Hiroshima, one such delicacy are the famous Okonomiyaki pancakes (prepared by spreading a mixture of flour and water onto a griddle before adding Bean sprouts, sliced cabbage, meat, egg, and noodles) This is best eaten with plenty of sweet okonomi sauce and powdered seaweed.

Popular tourist attractions include the Atomic Bomb Dome”genbaku dome” which was originally the Hiroshima Trade Promotion Hall and was 0nly 150 meters away from the epicentre of the blast, surviving because of its strong stone construction, while almost every building around it burned to the ground) and the Peace Memorial Museum (situated in Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park, which surveys the history of Hiroshima and the advent of the nuclear bomb and its resulting human suffering).
