This amazing gold plated reclining Buddha, located in Bangkok, is 46 meters long and 15 meters high and is designed to illustrate the passing of the Buddha into nirvana. The feet and the eyes are engraved with mother-of-pearl decoration, and the feet also show the 108 auspicious characteristics of the true Buddha displaying the auspicious symbols by which Buddha can be identified like flowers, dancers, white elephants, tigers and altar accessories.

Above the statue there is a seven tiered umbrella representing the authority of Thailand with 108 bronze bowls in the corridor indicating the 108 auspicious characters of Buddha into which people drop coins to bring them good luck.
