Luxury Multi Centre Holidays to Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai, located in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains 700 Km north of Bangkok is both historically and culturally fascinating and up until the 1920s could only be reached by journeying on the back of an Elephant or a long and extremely arduous trek along the river. At its centre, “The Walled City,” remain some of the remnants of the past including the moat circling the city and gates and corners of the restored wall. The centre of the cities nightlife revolves around Loi Kroh Rd, which is home to the majority of the cities hotels, guesthouses and hosts the famous Bazaara night market that stretches for several blocks and includes restaurants, bars and entertainment.
Inside the cities remaining walls there are 30 temples which date back to its foundation in 1269, the most famous of which is Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, which overlooks the city from a mountainside 13 km away. The temples offer attractions such as leonine and angelic guardians, beautiful wood carved decorations, pagodas laced with gold filigree and gilded umbrellas all crafted in a combination of Burmese, Sri Lankan and Lanna Thai styles.
The cities accommodation and cuisine are of the highest standard at surprisingly low cost and shoppers can purchase items such as clothes, handicrafts and luxury items from a wide range of outlets ranging from a simple small local market stall to large modern shopping malls. Families can also experience a wealth of adventure in and around the city including, amongst others, jungle tours, rafting excursions, Elephant riding, visits to hill tribe villages and the famous Tiger Kingdom (one of only two such ventures in the whole of Thailand that allows the visitor an “up close & personal” experience with the tigers, allowing them to play, stroke & take photos in the tigers actual enclosure).
