Margarita Island is known as “the pearl of the Caribbean” and for good reason, located 38 km north east of the mainland of Venezuela and far from the track of Atlantic tropical storms this island enjoys around 33 days of sunshine every year and the temperature is seemingly always set just right.

There are many inviting tropical beaches to explore here (most of which are virgin) which are lined with palm trees like Playa el Agua or Playa Parguito and offer various activities such as very reasonably priced scuba diving and snorkelling.

Other attractions here include the fort of Santa Rosa (an iconic place steeped in history and offering stunning views of the city and surrounding area), the small town of El Valle Del Espiritu Santo where tourists can experience the traditions, religion and culture of the country, La Restinga National Park (home to a wide variety of flora and fauna and a 25km square swamp, boat rides are available on the lagoon and into the mangroves), Juan Griego Bay where you can see the local fishing in action and take advantage of the duty free shopping that is available and much more.

There are a wide variety of excellent hotels and restaurants offering both local and international cuisine and a good selection of bars, clubs and discos that will keep you entertained into the early hours of the morning.
