More Information about Franschhoek

Franschhoek is a small town in the Western Cape Province and one of the oldest towns of the Republic of South Africa. Franschhoek is notable for having some of the top restaurants in the country within its quiet borders, this fact, together with the strong wine culture, and pristine natural and architectural beauty has made Franschhoek into what many describe as the “food and wine capital” of South Africa.

High mountains dominate the landscape and grape vines grow up the fertile foothills. Above the vines lie a few scattered evergreens before the rock shoots up vertically, and in the winter snow may fall on the peaks. The mountains give visitors a sense of serenity and seclusion and it’s hard to believe that Cape Town is only 40 minutes away and visitors fly in here from all over the world just to spend a long weekend. With wonderful accommodation and obviously the food and wine this is a must visit for all who desire a peaceful and relaxed vacation.
