The town of Stellenbosch is world renowned as one of the finest wine making areas that South Africa has to offer. The region`s climate and fertile soils combined with careful selection of the correct grape varieties have produced a winemaking industry that has survived and thrived for over 300 years.
The town is the second oldest in the country and today you can still walk down streets where the old oaks frame Cape Dutch houses. In keeping with the towns historical past the Stellenbosch Village Museum is a group of four carefully preserved and restored buildings each depicting a different era in the history of the town and a tour through them offers a fascinating glimpse into the past history and its gradual evolution into what it has become today.
There are regular wine tasting events in the various cellars that this town is home to including lunches and dinners served in shaded gardens with a bottle of wine of your choice. This is truly a beautiful and relaxing area with excellent accommodation ranging from self-catering apartments, bed & breakfast, guest houses and hotels with very hospitable staff and residents allowing to make your stay here both enjoyable and one that you will never forget.
