Luxury Multi Centre Holidays to Ho Chi Minh
The city of Ho Chi Minh, formerly known as Saigon was renamed after the war in honour of Ho Chi Minh, one if not the greatest and most popular Vietnamese leaders of all time.
This is a fast paced city of commerce and culture with seemingly limitless energy that will captivate all who visit and an experience that will not be easily forgotten. You can wander through timeless alleys to ancient pagodas, visit the teeming markets, admire the ramshackle wooden shops selling silk, spices and baskets, and marvel at the sleek skyscrapers or at designer malls, gourmet restaurants and minimalist bars.
That said the city still has much of its ancient past to offer with ornate churches, temples and the former GI hotels that offer a glimpse into a fascinating if sometimes troubled past. One such glimpse into the cities troubled past are the Cu Chi Tunnels, this is one of the most famous battlegrounds of the Vietnam War and where the sight and sound of young women wearing the black silk pyjamas of the Vietcong can still be imagined flitting through the trees trying to pick off the invaders with their weapons.
Another such glimpse is Reunification Palace (formerly known as The Independence Palace) which was home to the president of South Vietnam during the war and was also the site of the end of the war during the fall of Saigon on April 30th 1975 when a North Vietnamese tank crashed through its gates.
