On 25 September 2025, we were delighted to co-host a fantastic travel event with our partners Circle Square and Tauck at the beautiful West End offices of Clintons in London.

The event was entitled ‘The History of Luxury Travel: From the Grand Tours of 18th century aristocrats to space tourism, and beyond…’
An evening of travel inspiration
Tom Dumbrell from Tauck, and Beaver Travel’s business development consultant, Danny Sperling, explored the incredible history of luxury travel.
The programme schedule for the evening was as follows:
Part 1: Origins to 1920s – aristocratic beginnings
Part 2: The Tauck Century – 100 years of guided travel evolution
Part 3: The modern era and future possibilities
In Part 3, led by Danny Sperling on behalf of Beaver Travel, Danny talked about the growth of experiential travel, and focused on:
Slow Travel: Rather than flying direct to your destination, enjoy the journey itself. Think scenic rail journeys or small ships (under 200 guests) that make unique stops along the way, far from the usual tourist paths.
Sustainable Travel: A mindful way to explore the world without impacting the environment or local communities. Destinations like Costa Rica, eco-lodges, and participating in reforestation efforts are wonderful examples.
Multi-Generational Travel: Creating memories across generations, where grandparents, parents and children travel together to celebrate milestones.
He also looked ahead to hot emerging destinations such as Albania, Tbilisi and Bhutan – and even discussed how technology might transform travel in the future, from passport-free journeys to wardrobes waiting on arrival, tailored to your exact measurements!
