Singapore
Dynamic Singapore, known as the ‘Garden City’, blends forests of skyscrapers, a thrusting hi-tech economy and stellar hotels with lush tropical foliage, a surprisingly diverse population and cuisine, and the legacy of colonial and more recent history.
The Island state is both a major gateway to Southeast Asia as well as The Far East and Australasia but most visitors stay for at least two or three nights to fully experience this vibrant metropolis. Much more than just shopping in a high-rise cityscape, Singapore boasts superb restaurants, numerous attractions and the renovated areas of the city are especially pretty.
Of course, when visiting it would be de rigeur to celebrate the legacy of the city’s rich colonial past by stepping into the bar of the city’s most famous hotel, and toast the memory of the legendary Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles with a colourful ‘Singapore Sling’.
