Thailand
It is not hard to work out why Thailand has earned its reputation as ‘The Land of Smiles’. Thai hospitality is legendary, the perfumed cuisine is divine, the beaches are breathtaking and the range of sightseeing is impressive – no wonder everybody smiles!
The question is – what do you want to do? For many Thailand offers the quintessential exotic beach break, no doubt helped in some measure by a slice of Hollywood and a fulsome collection of luxury resorts on some of the world’s most idyllic beaches and islands.
But if you are going to travel so far around the world it would be a shame not to enjoy more of the country’s rich repertoire of experiences. Like many of her thriving Asian neighbours, Thailand offers the opportunity to experience the rich pulse of its cities. Bangkok is a complex city with an addictive energy that will surprise the visitor as ancient relics sit cocooned in a cityscape of soaring skyscrapers.
Travel into the north to the culturally rich city of Chiang Mai with its famous night markets before heading into the surrounding countryside for a host of jungle and mountain adventures whether it be white water rafting, visiting the long-necked Sharon people, a leisurely river excursion or a day with elephants.
At Beaver Travel we are proud of our in depth knowledge of Thailand and would love to help you plan the ideal Thailand holiday.
Bangkok
Bangkok is a city that moves at a staggering pace where the sights are sometimes unexpectedly located. Take a tuk tuk tour for the best way of weaving through the colourful chaos to reach the sights. And when dusk approaches head to the skyline to sip a sundowner or two from a classy rooftop bar.
Chiang Mai
Located 700km north of Bangkok is the city of Chiang Mai. Within the ancient walled city, there are over 30 temples to visit. It is also the perfect base from which to explore northern Thailand and the ethnic minorities and hill tribes that still inhabit the area.
Koh Samui
One of the world’s most well known beach destinations, Koh Samui is located off the Eastern coast of Thailand and is famous for its soft sand beaches.
Phuket
Nestled in the Andaman Sea off the west coast, Phuket is the largest of Thailands islands. It is renowned for its turquoise seas and fine white sands. It is the perfect location to cruise to Phang Nga Bay to see the giant limestone rock formations (as seen in James Bond’s ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’) that rise out of the sea. Nearby Krabi on the mainland is another popular beach destination.
